“A Year of Bountiful Harvest”
By Jonathan Nelson
November 2022
Jon writes about his experience, “As we approach seasons of thanksgiving
and celebration, we remember those in our community in need. These are
the people Bountiful Harvest seeks to serve.”
“This series of photographs represents the twelve months of 2019, when
Bountiful Harvest transitioned from the Brighton Community Center to its
new home on our church property. During that time, I was made welcome
to make remarkable connections with volunteers and clients, many of
whom were both. People told their stories with tears and laughter, were
served with respect and given whatever essentials they lacked.”
Scriptures that guided Jon’s representations:
Preparing to Serve
“Then God said, “I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the
whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours
for food.” Genesis 1:29 NIV
Serving
“Whoever has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he shares his bread with
the poor.” Proverbs 22:9 ESV
Community
“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not
neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one
another.” Hebrews 10:24-25 ESV
